ACADE-ME is a European project aimed at the active participation of Roma communities, promoting positive change through training programmes, awareness-raising activities and the creation of educational and informational resources.
Target Groups of the Project:
- Highlighting the impact of anti-Gypsyism on education and access to relevant data.
- To develop tools to combat discrimination against Roma students and empower teachers and professionals.
- To support Roma students, graduates and women with an academic background as ambassadors for positive change.
- Creation of a library of positive narratives from 60 Roma graduates, mainly women.
- Raising awareness of the importance of education for Roma youth in social inclusion.
Project objectives:
The ACADE_ME project aims to address the ongoing failure of the Roma social inclusion process, with a focus on education, awareness-raising and the promotion of positive role models as a means of combating anti-Gypsyism and discrimination against Roma. The aim is to improve life prospects and promote the full social inclusion of Roma in Europe.
Main Activities:
- Research into manifestations of anti-Gypsyism in education in Greece, Europe and the Western Balkans.
- Development and pilot implementation of educational models for Roma students/graduates and integration professionals.
- Establishment of national Roma Women’s Associations in six countries.
- Design and implementation of a communication and dissemination strategy for the results at European level.
