Path to Independent Living of People with Disabilities

Objective:

To support independent living for people with disabilities by enhancing the capacities of organisations, carers and other relevant stakeholders through educational tools, training and the creation of a digital support platform.

 

Target Groups of the Project:

 

  1. NGOs working with or interested in supporting independent living for adults with disabilities.
  2. Adults with disabilities (intellectual, physical, sensory).
  3. Local authorities, social welfare centres, and government departments dealing with disability and deinstitutionalisation issues.
  4. Caregivers, trainers, psychologists, social workers, special needs teachers, and other specialist staff.

 

Outcomes: 

Improvement of the capabilities of organisations and institutions working with people with disabilities. Creation of a Guide to Independent Living and a training methodology for carers and staff of independent living units.

  1. A guide to independent living in small-scale accommodation and other forms of living.
  2. Training methodology for staff, including occupational therapy activities for adults.
  3. Digital resource platform (ILU.org) with 4 main sections:
  • Training opportunities for staff.
  • Navigating the social welfare system.
  • Networking (map and profiles of organisations).
  • Contacts of local stakeholders
