Objective:
To support independent living for people with disabilities by enhancing the capacities of organisations, carers and other relevant stakeholders through educational tools, training and the creation of a digital support platform.
Target Groups of the Project:
- NGOs working with or interested in supporting independent living for adults with disabilities.
- Adults with disabilities (intellectual, physical, sensory).
- Local authorities, social welfare centres, and government departments dealing with disability and deinstitutionalisation issues.
- Caregivers, trainers, psychologists, social workers, special needs teachers, and other specialist staff.
Outcomes:
Improvement of the capabilities of organisations and institutions working with people with disabilities. Creation of a Guide to Independent Living and a training methodology for carers and staff of independent living units.
- A guide to independent living in small-scale accommodation and other forms of living.
- Training methodology for staff, including occupational therapy activities for adults.
- Digital resource platform (ILU.org) with 4 main sections:
- Training opportunities for staff.
- Navigating the social welfare system.
- Networking (map and profiles of organisations).
- Contacts of local stakeholders
