Objective:

The BeAC project aims to strengthen critical thinking and active participation among young people (aged 15–24) living in deprived areas. The aim is to enhance active citizenship in the following areas:

  • environmental citizenship
  • democratic participation at European level
  • social cohesion, particularly in light of the restrictions due to COVID-19

The project also enhances the skills of professionals working with young people (youth workers, social workers, teachers, volunteers, mental health professionals), enabling them to provide educational tools based on two innovative pedagogical methods:

  • Philosophy for Community (P4C)
  • Artful Thinking, an approach from the Harvard Project Zero

 

 Target groups:

  • Young people aged 15–24 from disadvantaged/vulnerable social groups
  • Teachers, youth workers, social workers, mental health professionals
  • Volunteers working with young people

 

Outcomes: 

Training for professionals and support for young people with fewer opportunities to develop critical thinking skills. Strengthening critical thinking skills and promoting active participation in the community.

  1. “Philosophy for Community” workshops for young people aimed at developing critical thinking.
  2. “Artful Thinking” workshops using the visual arts to foster active citizenship.
  3. BeAC Photo Challenge – An awareness-raising campaign through photography.
  4. Training programme for youth workers on the use of the above methods.
  5. International Conference and National Multiplication Events in each partner country.
